| Description: | I did a one-year artist residency (2004/5) at Bethnal Green Technology College (now renamed as Mulberry Academy Shoreditch). I worked closely with the teacher and year 11 to create a series of artworks and interventions using the exhibitions and my studio practice as starting points to take creative risks questioning what contemporary art is bringing our own questions and artworks to the gallery. The residency ended with the gallery commissioning me to make a new artwork in response to my time spent at the school. I made a 2 screen video installation "1 x 1 = 2" in collaboration with GCSE drama students. The work was exhibited at The Whitechapel Gallery in June 2005. The work examines human character and personalities that can potentially arise within us during the intensity of exam period. |
