The Place Jam

The Jam Series is a research project investigating an original practice around improvised filmmaking. For this project, Gabriela joined dance improvisation jams (sessions where large groups of people improvise together in a dance studio) and shot and edited each dance film within a strict and limited timeframe of 2 hours. These resulted in 13 short films, which were always screened to the participants of the Jam at the end of each session. In 2015, Gabriela presented some of the research at a a Pecha-Kucha symposium in London, where she explored some fundamentals of dance improv in relation to this new film improvisation practice.
