| Description: | Installation with textiles and prints on textile (150×10000 cm). Permanent collection of the Gallery of Fine Arts, Split, Croatia. The fabric hangs loosely, falling in folds, one layer resting over another. Like geological strata, the layers are soft and undulating. Some of the prints examine relationships between materials, between people and their environments, and the ways our perception of these relationships is formed. The bodies or figures are legible through lived bodily experience—figures shaped by geopolitics and by human relations damaged by discrimination, but also by a sense of situatedness defined through earth, ground, air, and water rather than cultural identity. They evoke both belonging and estrangement: feeling part of a place, a group, or a material, and simultaneously apart from them. The bodies oscillate constantly and almost imperceptibly between being objects or victims of political and natural forces, and being carried by, or released from, those same conditions. |
