| Description: | Painting 03 (assisted fresco) is the third painting from a series of monochromes made at the British School at Rome in reference to Roman frescoes. The work is painted in a Pompeian red, ‘assisted’ with metal fixtures attached to edges like music equipment protective casing and lending the work a transportable quality. Underpinning these works is a narrative about the portable quality of travel size icons, and reference to the American artist David Navros’ ‘portable frescoes’, suggesting that these paintings too are to be taken in journeys or pilgrimages. |
