Collective Care - Life in Clothes

Mila Burcikova's installation, Life in Clothes, documents the earth’s natural cycles in and through the process of fashion design and making.. Each ensemble, meticulously crafted from vintage linen bedsheets and coloured with botanical hues derived from the artist’s garden, corresponds to a micro-season, and chronicles a year of self-regeneration through fashion creation guided by the earth’s rhythms. Accompanying photographs capture the seasons in Burcikova's garden and the surrounding landscape, inviting viewers to witness the interconnectedness of body, earth, and their expression in the clothes we design and wear.

Life in Clothes challenges us to reconsider the possibilities of fashion creation, demonstrating how the natural cycles of gardening can blossom into a nuanced understanding of collective care, contributing to a healthier planet and a more grounded creative process.
