Description: | Keynote lecture analysing connections inherent within my sound installation - The Body Event - as sound art, research and oral history. The Body Event was first exhibited as part of John Latham's exhibition, God Is Great and Belief Systems As Such, at the Lisson Gallery, 2005. It was then installed in expanded form in Flat Time House (Latham's home until his death) in 2009 and exhibited as a third iteration as The Body Event: Language is a Flawed Medium at Pro qm, Berlin in 2010. Framed within the context of research as practice, this keynote lecture proposed the idea that a sound event can act as a form of oral history and even portraiture of an absent subject. |
