Thinking on textiles through cross-disciplinary dialogue

Interlace is a gathering of textile artists, curators, academics and others interested in exploring the intersections between Nottingham as a city, its historical links with textile production, trade and collecting, and contemporary art practice. Although Nottingham will be the initial point of departure, the event will draw routes across the UK and out to China and India.

Over a two day programme of lectures, discussions and exchange around artistic practice, we aim to identify some of the particular physical and conceptual places that textiles have inhabited, and explore new spaces that are being created through cross-disciplinary collaborations. This will include overlaps between contemporary
textiles and diverse disciplines, including computer programming, mathematics, music and science.
