Description:

[Introduction]
In London, the presence of contemporary art practice from Latin America is distributed amongst spaces that are committed to working internationally; arts professionals and an interested public can count on certain institutions to support the development of new work by Latin American artists and amongst these, Gasworks' international residency programme has achieved a reputation for consistence and critical rigour, For curators, collectors and researchers, Gasworks is as much a course of "intelligence" about artistic practice within Latin America as a space where work by Latin American artists is often seen and discussed. Its insight is based on ongoing exchanges with individuals, artist-run spaces and residency centres world-wide, and this acumen has allowed Gasworks to show and support the work of leading Latin American artists relatively early in their careers.
