Description: | Val Williams has been working on the Daniel Meadows Archive during a University of the Arts London sabbatical term. These photographs were taken at the beginning of Meadows’ career, while he was studying photography at Manchester Polytechnic in the north of England. The first stage of the research project has revolved around documents and archived photographs within the collection. For two months in early 1972 Meadows ran a free photographic studio in a former barber’s shop in Manchester’s Moss Side. The Shop on Graeme Street was open on Saturdays. Local children delivered prints to the homes of those who had been photographed. |
