Description: | Metrics are proposed which allow the evaluation of the intrinsic smoothness of an output colour transform. One metric is based on taking the second derivative of the transform. The second method computes a series of smooth gradients and evaluates the differences between these gradients and the actual output values. A psychophysical experiment was performed to evaluate the proposed metrics, and both were found to be highly correlated with the observers' visual scale values. |
