Description: | An exhibition of photographs by Itai Doron from his monographs “Yassin” and “Chokras’ Mahal”, together with previously unseen images. The exhibition was concurrent with the launch of the book “Chokras’ Mahal” and took place at ‘Other Criteria’ (New Bond Street, London). Doron’s work has grown from formal portraiture to investigate the narratives that define city life through the lives of displaced people. His work focuses on the relationships between men and brotherhoods bound by a lack of, and longing for contact. Finding his subject through encounters experienced whilst travelling, Doron’s “Yassin” counters the romance of circus life depicting a transient acrobatic act through images of their caravan, possessions, fighting paraphernalia and their dog. Images from “Chokras’ Mahal” confront our notions of homelessness through images of street boys and stray dogs, and their survival in the sun-bleached landscape of Northern India. |
