The Chicken Project

Jones, Kieren (2011) The Chicken Project. [Art/Design Item]

Type of Research: Art/Design Item
Creators: Jones, Kieren
Description:

The Chicken Project is a critical / speculative design project that questions our dependancy on mass manufacturing and how as a society we are increasingly unaware of the providence of everyday objects and industrial processes.

By designing complex miniature factories and kilns at home, I took the raw materials from a Chicken Carcass, local trees and aluminium cans from my street to produce fine chicken bone china ceramic pieces, aluminium cutlery, poultry leather and a London Plane display cabinet for the objects.

Keywords/subjects not otherwise listed: Rurban Revolution; industrial processes; everyday objects
