I called when you were out

In the latest intervention in Kettle’s Yard house, sculptor and printmaker Paul Coldwell has introduced a number of new works. He has made a series of bronze sculptures, prints, and a film which respond to aspects of the house and collection and reflect on the presence and absence of domestic life. 'I found myself increasingly thinking about the house as a place that had been once lived in.' His sculptures and prints reflect on what is there - decanters on the cider-press screw, or Gaudier-Brzeska's 'Maternity' - and what might be missing or hidden - family photographs, toys, clothing, a child's cot. Also showing is his film of sailing boats bobbing on a pond, set just beneath an Alfred Wallis painting. Produced with the support of the Arts and Humanities Research Council, these newly commissioned works were made over the last year in response to the objects and environment of Kettle¹s Yard.
