Description: | Building on the ideas presented in output one, this sound installation extends the notion of the physical exploration of musical structure in space to the exploration of the structure of sound itself. Orchestral and vocal samples are broken down into individual partials using software partial tracking techniques presented on 60 small hanging loudspeakers as if frozen in space. The audience moves among the speakers experiencing the sound from the inside. Listeners are simultaneously aware of the static harmonies of the combined partials and a dynamic composition of small loops and patterns that changes with their movement through the space. |
