Creators: | Bugg, Jessica and Ziesche, Anna-Nicole |
Description: | The curatorial concept was developed from research into the intertextuality of fashion and performance which led to an invitation by the world-leading trend forecaster and founder of ‘Trend Union’, Lidewij Edelkoort to co-curate the first fashion performance exhibition Fashion Performance: Materiality, Meaning and Media for the Arnhem Mode Biennale 2013. Bugg and Ziesche co-curated the exhibition and Bugg was sole editor of the accompanying catalogue. She was also invited to include an essay ‘Fashion & Performance: Materiality, Meaning, Media’ on the broader context of the exhibition for the book ‘Fetishism in Fashion’ by Lidewij Edelkoort (Frame, Amsterdam in 2013). Bugg's short film ‘Tempest and Grey Wave’ was shown alongside 14 international practitioners including Hussein Chalayan, Bart Hess, Marie Schuller, Maria Blaisse, Lucy Orta and Pyuupiru. The exhibition draws on the researchers’ analysis of contemporary experimental fashion and performance design in film exposing cross-disciplinary approaches and shifts in thinking at this intersection. |
