Description: | White Lung Dress is an extension to a fashion/textile collection ‘Primitive Streak’ developed by Helen Storey in collaboration with biologist Professor Kate Storey since 1997. The dress is made from sponge mimicking both the lung texture of the human being and the shine of surfactant that helps lung cells expand. ‘White Lung Dress’ was commissioned by the Wellcome Trust and exhibited at the Wellcome Collection. This presentation of the work was accompanied by a showing of ‘Breathe’, a short film by Adam Mufti and Helen Storey. |
