Round about a great estate: the Morrisons at Fonthill since 1829

The Morrison family have owned land at Fonthll for longer than anyone else, including the Grosvenors and their descendants the Shaw-Stewarts, the Beckfords, the Cottingtons and the Mervyns. This paper is a shortened version of my talk, the second annual Sarum Chronicle lecture, given at Salisbury Museum in November 2012. Here I have concentrated on the impact of the Morrisons at Fonthill since 1829, with the emphasis on additions to the estate, and the erection, alteration or demolition of buildings.
