Description: | This unique exhibition presents a selection of folios from Bradford's print collection featuring: lithographs by LS. Lowry, etchings by David Hockney; Sonia Boyce, Chris Ofili, Hew Locke - from the Rivington Place Portfolio, INIVA; Landscapes of War, William Rothenstein's 1921 dry points; Glen Baxter's humorous lithographs and Patrick Caulfield’s boldly coloured screenprints. The exhibition also includes a seriescelebrating the 2012 London Olympics featuring Bob and Roberta Smith, Martin Creed, Rachel Whiteread and Tracey Emin. The exhibition spans a printmaking renaissance from the 1960s. On loan is a framed Intaglio set published in 1995 to celebrate twenty-five years of Angela Flowers Gallery, London, including Nicola Hicks, Glenys Barton, Renny Tait and Tai-Shan Schierenberg - all past and future exhibitors at Bradford Museums and Galleries. Reproductions of William Hogarth's A Rakes Progress feature, courtesy of The Whitworth Art Gallery, University of Manchester. Curated by Professor Paul Coldwell, University of the Arts, London, we hope that fresh debate will be formed on printmaking and the artist's folio. Visitors will see folios in their entirety, displaying the full series and sequence of prints, as the artist originally intended. |
