| Description: | This paper engaged with issues arising from a contemporary approach to narrative painting, in relation to my inclusion in the exhibition 'Painting Past Present' at Laing Art Gallery. The paper explored ways of considering narrative in reference to Paul Ricoeur's texts 'Time and Narrative', Ranciere, Dickens. It referenced other artworks to give a context for the ideas that underpinned my work for the exhibition, and expanded a set of ideas about the representations of narratives in contemporary life. |
