Description:	Building on ideas of the 'specialist observer' originated by Mulvey (2005), methods and outcomes from a visual analysis of Kubrick's classic sci-fi film from 1968 are discussed and presented here. The project used artefacts and theory housed at the Stanley Kubrick Archive to propose new ways of experiencing film and generating cinematic space. The talk forms part of the ‘Research / Innovation and New Critical Thinking' strand of this international symposium organised by Teal Triggs and the Information Environments Research Group at the University of the Arts London.
