| Description: | Filmed in London, Paris and Darmstadt, Knots and Fields is a feature length documentary looking back on the history of the ‘Darmstadt School’. It examines the development of avant-garde experiments that took place in the context of Darmstadt's famous New Music Courses during the 50s and 60s, and asks what significance that legacy has for contemporary composers. The film includes interviews with Pierre Boulez, Helmut Lachenmann, David Behrman, and Brain Ferneyhough, as well as music by György Kurtág and Karlheinz Stockhausen among others. |
