Description: | The 'Jointed Doll' was prototyped for the Bauhaus by Josef Hartwig and Oskar Schlemmer in 1923. The object has been redrawn as a CAD model calling on publicly available data, personal observation/memory and information from the Bauhaus Archive. The project considers the historical, material and institutional conditions of artefacts in relation to the possibilities/limitations of digital technology and explores concepts of 'difference and repetition'. Four complete dolls (sets of 25 parts) have been produced through additive manufacturing (3D printing) and were exhibited as part of 'Second Reflection/Symmetrical Contents' at Chelsea Space in London (2013). |
