Description: | Sculpture/Installation made from MDF peg board, (a surface to hang tools on), 50 metal and wooden discs and spray paint. The white discs represent the women, and the metallic ones-the young male apprentices. 'Fifty' was exhibited in St Giles in the Fields Church. The church contains a memorial to John Pearson,who died in 1707; he bequeathed the sum of £50 a year for 99 years, ‘one half to be utilised for the apprenticeship of boys Sons of poor decay’d Housekeepers, and the other half to go to the 20 Women in the Almeshouses at ye end of Monmouth Street’. |
