Which Shelf for the Broken One? What the hoard can teach us about acts of gathering

Zoë Mendelson presented a meta-fictive lecture, ‘Which Shelf for the Broken One: What the hoard can teach us about acts of gathering' at Archives for the Future: An Art and Visual Culture Conference.

The conference was held on Saturday 29 March, 2014 at The University of Westminster (London). It was organised by Mnemoscape (Elisa Adami and Alessandra Ferrini).

Mnemoscape is an online research platform and magazine dedicated to contemporary art practices exploring issues of memory, history and the archival impulse. 'Archives for the Future' was a conference about archives and about the future. Living in a time when archival collections are digitized, new technologies produce new archival traces, old fears of nuclear destruction have re-emerged with the resulting reconfiguration of conservation techniques and pre-emptive strategies, we were concerned with the future of archives.
