| Description: | This chapter attempts an exegesis of a musical composition from 2010, a six-page score of text and visual elements composed for improvising musicians. Originally a commission from the Ligatus research centre at UAL, the work was inspired by the thought and practice of artist John Latham and first performed at the Whitechapel Gallery, London, on 4 September 2010. My essay contextualises the sources and performance of the composition and its realisation within the broader question of whether such a piece can be understood as practice-based research. |
