Description: | Commissioned for the Look Again Visual Arts and Design Festival in Aberdeen, #blueskythinker transforms Albert the Prince Consort’s statue with a series of gentle landscapes inspirited by his Presidential speech to the British Association of Advanced Science in 1859 at the nearby Music Hall. The work incorporates a field of small blue and white surveying flags to surround the landscape around the plinth, letting the viewers eye drift across a temporal cloudscape of flags. A film of his speech projected inside Central Library as well as the standard lamps outside the building being switched on at night for the duration of the festival and a public talk about clouds. The interactive work also invited audiences to look up, photograph the sky and post images to a virtual landscape via social media using the hash tag #blueskythinker. |
