Description: | In support of Fashion Revolution Day on Thursday 24 April – marking the first anniversary of the Rana Plaza factory’s collapse in Bangladesh – Somerset House held a number of events throughout April which opened up the question: who makes our clothes? Panel discussions examined different facets of the fashion industry, from luxury brands and designers to the lead commentators who have brought together the Fashion Revolution Day initiative. What positive steps are luxury fashion brands making to become more socially and environmentally sustainable? Luxury brands are the foundation of the fashion industry, however often overlooked are their processes sourcing raw materials, manufacturing their products and marketing of their services, and how this can be considered within this debate of ethical and sustainable practice. Dilys Williams spoke alongside Diana Verde Nieto and Mimma Viglezio using their vast experience working with luxury fashion brands on how they communicate and interact with corporate social responsibility to try to answer these questions. |
