Description: | 'Unmourned' is a feature film screenplay. 'Unmourned' is a haunting psychological mystery set in a small island community. Ava is passing through Singapore when she's robbed. She loses her passport, her money, her very identity. She's drawn back reluctantly to the island of her birth where her sister drowned. Here she meets the near-blind Mr Musa. He offers her a cash job describing objects he's found in his fishing nets: human flotsam. Alone and penniless, Ava's too desperate to refuse. Working by night she becomes increasingly involved in her unusual task. When she finds out her predecessor has gone missing she begins to suspect Musa's motives. But strange forces are stopping her from getting away. Under pressure, Ava's personality begins to fragment, leading her onto increasingly dangerous ground. Driven by a self-destructive urge to close the present mystery and to make amends for the past, Ava pushes herself closer and closer to the edge. |
