Description: | The Wall Starers was commissioned as part of FEM 11 Festival at the Centre Cultural la Mercè, Girona (2011). Corner (noun): Positioned facing different corners of the Centre Cultural la Mercè, Girona, I embarked on a series of live drawings that sought to interrogate and re-imagine these indeterminate and liminal spaces. The drawings that materialised from this live action revolve around a set of three lines that propose and reconfigure the corner as a philosophical space. And out of this triangulation, a series of diagrammatic potentials, subconscious territories and allusions emerge. Produced as a script in public space, viewers were invited to toggle between drawn space and the site of the museum itself. The drawings invited viewers to engage in a series of propositions, from a ritual of ‘wall staring’, to projections of positive and negative space, and visions of appearance and disappearance. |
