| Description: | The project 'Frontiers of Solitude' focuses on contemporary transformations of the landscape and the close connections between our post-industrial civilization and nature. These themes are elaborated in terms of the cultural geography and morphology of three selected areas of the Czech Republic, Iceland and Norway. This article is one of the contributions to the the project's final catalogue and represents my engagement with the fascinating lignite mining areas of North Bohemia in the Czech Republic. |

| Additional Information (Publicly available): | This catalogue is published on the occasion of the exhibition Na pomezí samoty / Frontiers of Solitude February 5 – March 4, 2016 at Školská 28 Gallery, the Fotograf Gallery and the Ex Post Gallery as part of the eponymous project which has been supported by a grant from Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Grants (Program CZ06 Cultural Heritage and Contemporary Arts). It has been published in cooperation with Atelier Nord (NO), the Skaftfell Center for Visual Arts (IS) and with the support of the Agosto Foundation. The exhibition continues at the Vysočina Regional Gallery in Jihlava (April – May, 2016) and the House of Arts - University Art Center / Faculty of Art and Design JEPU in Ústí nad Labem, (September – October 2016). |
