Ben Hayoun, Nelly (2009) Dark Energy In The Kitchen Sink. [Art/Design Item]
Type of Research: | Art/Design Item |
---|---|
Creators: | Ben Hayoun, Nelly |
Description: | In Collaboration with The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and High Energy Physics Researchers at the world renowned 27 kilometre Large Hadron Collider, CERN, Switzerland, Nelly Ben Hayoun reproduced the quantum field theory ‘Casimir experiment’ at a centimeter scale. With just Salt water, two pieces of metal (gold plated pigeon eggs) and a purpose built microwave made from the magnetron extracted from a domestic microwave she engaged in a discussion at the boundary between science fiction and ‘hardcore’ science - a platform where the extreme experiments of amateurs can make the physically ‘impossible’ happen. |
