Museum of the Unwanted

'Purity, Danger, Dirty Re-arranger' (installation)and 'ikeagram: a place where everyone' (animation and performance in 'Museum of the Unwanted', Kunstmuseum Olten, Switzerland, an artist curated project by Clare Goodwin.

'Museum of the Unwanted' was a museum exhibition about things that are left behind, the practices of artists who use such objects for their creative activities and incorporate them into their work. Artists taking part in the show were invited to incorporate partition walls originating from other exhibitions.

'Purity, Danger, Dirty Rearranger': Using the ex-museum boards, I mounted a series of handmade ‘towel rails’ each supporting overlapping papers, which - hung together - formed composite drawings.

The drawings - drawn directly from collages - appeared like intricate stains across the paper ‘towels’. Within these stains were exquisite compositions of disarrayed objects and clutter. This piece focused on ideas around the temporality and clear-up of exhibitions, with acts of discard posing as abjection or dirt.
