Description: | 250 plus page book, combining artists' book with collected essays on art and culture. Accompanied by two launch events.One at Science Museum on 28th November 2018 which was a day-long event featuring over twenty speakers and participants, responding to the theme of 'Technologies of Romance - Part II' my second book in a series of artists' books/essay collections. speakers were drawn from Science Museum and CSM staff, as well as students from CSM BAFA and MA Art & Science courses, plus guest speakers from other colleges and external guest artists. I gave my own paper and acted as a central designer and coordinator of the event, and as moderator for a plenary session. In addition to this, on 24th October, 2018 'The Book as a Romantic Technology' symposium was held at South London Gallery. This was an evening symposium event featuring several guest speakers, a DJ, and projections of the book's illustrations. The panel consisted of: myself, as writer and acting as moderator, Bada Song, as editor, Bryony Lloyd, as distributor, Eleanor Brown as book designer and retailer, John Whapham, as illustrator, and Tony Yard as printer. Roshni Bhagotra also appeared as DJ illustrating the book's contents by playing records mentioned in the book. |
