Description: | An early reviewer of the exhibition Women Fashion Power at the Design Museum in Shad Thames speculated that, although the opening event seemed like an extension of the exhibition itself, with a spectacular display of fashion animated by the bodies of the women who wore the clothes, the actual display might ‘lack the oomph’ needed to convince its visitors (see Bassett 2014). This is sadly a generous avoidance of the many flaws of this particular exhibition that are perhaps more glaringly obvious when compared to the care that is taken with, what might be termed, the curation of many commercial fashion spaces. |
