Practice research in design: Towards a novel understanding - A practitioners response to the Triple 'S'

In this PDF presentation the author reflected on the Triple S framework ('Sited', 'Situated' and 'Situating' in nature), using an annotated portfolio approach and the author's Service Shirt project work (2018). The outputs framework was used to articulate the ways in which this body of practice work contributed to the field of circular design. In addition, a number of other 's' words were put forward as other supporting lenses through which design practice research might be considered. These included 'space', 'shock', 'science', 'surprise', 'social', 'sharing', 'self' and 'silence'. This presentation was given at a seminar on 2 November 2022, the final, closing event hosted by the UAL's Social Design Institute.
