Description:	Fashion designers have long looked to other cultures for inspiration, exoticising and essentialising non-Western fashion. This presentation uses the current Jean Paul Gaultier retrospective at the Barbican as a starting point to address the question, is this cultural appropriation problematic or forgiveable in the pursuit of high fashion?
