Description:	This is a commissioned catalogue essay to accompany the 2022 exhibition 'Keith Piper: Jet Black Futures' at The New Art Gallery Walsall. The catalogue was funded by the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art and is the first monograph on the artist since 'Relocating the Remains' published by Iniva in 1997. The essay considers the evolution of Piper's practice in terms of content, materiality and artistic strategy whilst exploring ways in which he revisits and reshapes work in relation to the contemporary context.
